A clothes hanger is a rack used to hang clothes. The modern hook-style clothes hanger originated from a shoulder-shaped hook made of bent lead wire.
According to the *Luban Jing Jiang Jing* (a classic Chinese text on craftsmanship), early Chinese clothes hangers were divided into plain and decorated types. From the Warring States period to the Tang Dynasty, a load-bearing structure with a base, pillars, and beams was developed. In the Song Dynasty, it evolved into a pillar and horizontal bar style. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, carved pillars and lattice bases appeared. In the Qing Dynasty, due to the characteristics of Manchu clothing, it evolved into a tall, arched frame, and a special "court robe rack" was created for official robes.
Clothes hanger materials include wood, plastic, and steel. The production process involves processing the raw material, sanding, and assembly. Modern clothes hangers have evolved into types such as lift-up and wall-mounted hangers. Some residential areas prohibit the installation of door-mounted clothes hangers due to regulations.
